June 20 2021 TEMPOArt

June 10, 2021 in group meditation

Dear lovers & fighters.

I hope this note finds you well. Things are always uncertain, things are always shifting, but man it feels like some cosmic tectonic shiftiness abounds. We’re going on a year and a of half dealing with this global pandemic, which seems to have been a flash point for so many offshoots of human behavior to play out in a multitude of ways. Some virtuous and affirming, others not so much. The already razor thin veil of civility we’ve somehow been getting by on feels like its down to a thread at times.

As the vaccination roles out and Covid infections are on the decline (at least in this country) there is a palpable hope of getting past the pandemic piece. But what’s left in its wake? Where are we now? Like, right now?

Places are opening up and folks are beginning to step out. That’s cool. My hope is that people go easy and move at a pace that feels right in their bones.

This whole global event is loaded with teachings and wisdom if we pay attention. If we can somehow temper our collective “destination addiction” and keep a check on our “rush” back to “normal.” This in itself offers so much to explore. What the hell is normal anyway? It’s beautiful out, summer is here and it’s time for healing. For real, healing. I’ll say it again, it’s time for healing.

I’d like to invite you to hang out with my family and friends at a chill event brought to you by TempoArts. It’s Sunday, June 20th, from 2:00-4:00. (Father’s Day, I know, bring your dad.) Many of us will gather on the East End Trail in Portland on Casco Bay. There’s a beautiful location where the Art Installation “Resilience in Place” is situated — an area right off the walking trail where some giant stones rest. I will facilitate the event Gathering People and Being Like Stones.

The invitation is to come hang, then at about 2:30, we’ll all drop into silence. Just holding it down for each other. Being in each other’s presence without having to do a thing. You can stand, sit, lay down, levitate, walk in circles; whatever feels right. Let’s just check out what the spaciousness and silence offers up. The Noble Silence piece will last 20 to 30 minutes. After that, it’s easy does it time and paletas (popsicles.)

If I haven’t seen you in a while, I’d love to see you there, and if we haven’t met yet, I would love to meet you. And it’s not on zoom

Peace,
Gil
